58 arrested in raids at two Sabah floating villages


TAWAU: A total of 47 illegal immigrants and 11 criminal suspects have been arrested in a joint operation at floating villages of Kampung Kurnia Jaya and Kampung Titingan here early morning yesterday.

In the 4am operation, four suspects were arrested for house break-ins, two for theft and five for drug-related offences.

Tawau police chief Assistant Commissioner Fadil Marsus said both floating villages were hotspots for illegal immigrants and criminal activities.

“A total of 44 male and three female, aged between 17 and 54 from Indonesia and the Philippines, were arrested for not having valid identification documents,” he said.
