Anwar: The people want us to focus on economy, not politics

PETALING JAYA: The man on the street wants politicians to focus on the economy and not on politicking, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Whenever I talk to people on the ground, the issues are cost of living and governance.

“Few care about political intrigue when they have to tighten their belts,” the PKR president said on Twitter Tuesday (Feb 19).

“The man (and woman) on (the) street would much prefer that politicians focus on improving the economy and the state of the nation,” he added.

He said the motive behind the Islamist party’s allegations were aimed at covering up the RM90mil issue it was currently mired in.

Anwar, who spoke to reporters after delivering an address on education at Universiti Selangor here Monday (Feb 18), said the other Pakatan parties had also dismissed the allegation.

“Nobody wants to comment because they think it is a non-issue and a PAS attempt to deflect the focus from the money taken from 1MDB,” he said.
