Fake news about government is worrying

BACHOK, April 16 – The trend of blaming and spreading unverified news about the government on social media has been seen as a worrying trend ahead of the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.

National Professor Council chief executive officer Dr Prof Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose said there were many assumptions and allegations being spread as if the country was on the verge of destruction.

“The World Bank’s forecast places Malaysia as the 23rd best in the world in terms of economic growth and it was not a joke,” he told reporters at the ‘Professor with the Community’ Programme at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) here today.

Raduan said the people needed to know what had been achieved by the country now was due to the results of very good efforts taken by the government since the country obtained its independence.
