Four men arrested for robbing two women


SIBU: The police had arrested four men and seized two parangs who are alleged to have robbed two women of their mobile phones in Bintulu on Thursday (Aug 15).

Bintulu OCPD Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said on Friday (Aug 16) that the four suspects, aged between 19 and 32, were arrested at different places in Bintulu town between 2pm and 4pm.

The aarrests were made following a report lodged by the two women who were robbed of their mobile phones.

The two women were walking along Jalan Tun Hussein Onn at around 12.30pm on Thursday (15 Aug) when four men, armed with parang, showed up, said Supt Zulkipli..

“As the two women feared for their safety, they surrendered their mobile phones to the four men, who fled after that,” he added.

Losses were estimated at RM1, 000.

Four mobile phones and two parang were sized from the suspects.

If convicted, the suspects may face a jail term up to 20 years and caning.
