It’s wrong to pass remark on other country’s justice system, says MIC’s former president

PETALING JAYA: Former MIC president Dr S Subramaniam has chided Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad for saying Zakir Naik will not get a fair trial in India.

Subramaniam said it is wrong to to pass pass remarks on the justice systems of other countries. The muslims in India will ensure a fair trial for Zakir, he added.

“Should we start this game of judging the judicial systems of foreign countries according to our own convenience and political choices?” he asked in his Facebook post.

Subramaniam reminded the prime minister that India has the world’s third largest muslim population.

Earlier this week, Mahathir said Putrajaya could refuse any demand from New Delhi to extradite Naik, who is facing money laundering charges involving about RM115 million.
