Najib gives final salute to security personnel

PETALING JAYA: In what appears to be an emotional goodbye, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has officially bid farewell to his security detail.

In a Facebook post Tuesday (May 29), Najib posted a photo of him giving a final salute to his team of security personnel.

“Today, I salute and say goodbye to my police escort, Unit Tindakan Khas (UTK), and officers who were entrusted with the responsibility to provide security and assistance to my family and I at the Prime Minister’s Office and Seri Perdana official residence,” he said.

Najib said that his entire security detail have been withdrawn by the Government except for an Aide-de-Camp (ADC) officer.

“My family and I will never forget their friendship, contribution and loyalty throughout the past nine years – including those who served us for 14 years when I was still the deputy prime minister,” he added.

Najib also urged the new Government to take care of their welfare, adding that they will serve the government of the day with unwavering loyalty.

“Until we meet again, I wish them all the best and I hope they will continue to serve the new Government with the same loyalty and dedication they showed me,” he said.
