Sources said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was expected to announce the dissolution at his office in Putrajaya after Friday prayers. The cabinet is expected to meet from 8.30am.
“Najib is expected to make the announcement on Friday. We are really busy now,” a source said at the Parliament lobby yesterday.
Earlier yesterday, Najib hinted that GE14 was imminent when he announced that he would launch Barisan Nasional’s election manifesto on Saturday.
All 13 senior leaders from BN’s component parties, including those in Sabah and Sarawak, are expected to attend the event, which will be held at Stadium Putra in Bukit Jalil.
The prime minister normally meets theYang di-Pertuan Agong before chairing cabinet meetings, and he is expected to seek the king’s consent to dissolve Parliament.

Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said he was informed that this week’s cabinet meeting would be held on Friday.
He said the cabinet needed to settle many things, especially since the redelineation bill had been passed.
However, he said he was not aware of Najib’s plans to dissolve Parliament.
Political analyst Professor Datuk Dr Abdul Halim Sidek said chances of Najib dissolving Parliament this week were there as he would unveil BN’s manifesto on Saturday.
